Slow Cooker Month: Slow Cooker Barbecue Pork Ribs
Do you ever have a taste of BBQ ribs in the middle of winter? Or during a thunderstorm?
Or anytime when the gas grill is not the most convenient option…it can be a bummer!
As someone who lives in the South, it’s almost never too cold to grill outside but thunderstorm happens all the time!
If your family is looking for ribs, this recipe may solve that problem for you.
Slow Cooker Barbecue Pork Ribs
Ribs when You Can't Get to a Grill
Equipment
slow cooker
Ingredients
- 4 lbs. boneless pork ribs
- 1 onion sliced thin
- 2 C of barbecue sauce
- 2 tsp of lemon juice
Instructions
- Place the ribs into the bottom of a well-greased crockpot. Lay the onions over the top of the ribs.
- Whisk together the barbecue sauce and lemon juice until blended well. Pour the mixture over the ribs.
- Place the lid on the crockpot and cook on low for 9 hours or until the ribs are cooked through and tender. Be sure to baste the ribs every once in while keep them coated on both sides.
- Makes 4 servings
Notes
Although removing the lid of the crock usually means an extended cooking time, this recipe calls for it. Making sure you baste the ribs occasionally will keep them from becoming too dry on the bottom and running your meal. It will not extend the above cooking time.
