It’s Tuesday, Day 11! Back to some soul-nourishing!

A morning routine is ideal for starting your day off on the right foot. It sets you up for success, helping you be in control of your day and feel more productive, calm, and focused. What’s more, it is incredibly soul nourishing when done correctly.

Here are seven steps for creating a soul-nourishing morning routine that will help energize and inspire your whole day:

Step One: Wake Up at the Right Time

Waking up at the right time is essential to a successful morning routine. Your body’s natural rhythms, or circadian rhythms, signal when it’s time to wake and sleep. Aim to get up early enough so that you have plenty of time to prepare for the day without needing to rush or feeling exhausted.

Step Two: Stretch and Breathe Deep

Stretching and breathing deeply is a great way to wake up your body and mind in the morning. Taking a few moments to stretch is incredibly beneficial, as it helps reduce stiffness in the body, increases circulation, and prepares you for whatever activities you have planned. Then, follow up with deep breaths to relax your nervous system and get you into a more mindful space. This helps to ground and connect you before moving into the next step of your morning routine.

Step Three: Take a Moment to Reflect

Before you get out of bed, take five minutes to reflect. Ask yourself what qualities you want to embody that day or what goals you will accomplish. This will help you stay positive, resourceful, and focused throughout your day-to-day tasks. You can also use this time to consider any challenges or obstacles you might face and plan out strategies for tackling them in advance.

Step Four: Drink a Large Glass of Water

Drinking a large glass of water helps to rehydrate your body and flush out any toxins that may have built up overnight. It also helps stimulate digestion and gives you a boost of energy. After drinking the water, take a few moments to notice how it feels coursing through your body and appreciate the hydration it brings.

Step Five: Move Your Body

Moving your body during your morning routine is vital for boosting energy, improving focus, and enhancing mental clarity. This can come in any form that works for you: stretches, yoga poses, walking or jogging, or doing a few push-ups. So don’t worry if it feels like a chore at first. Instead, choose something enjoyable and easy to do in the mornings. Eventually, it will become an effortless part of your morning ritual. Plus, knowing that you’ve already got some exercise under your belt could motivate you to go further later in the day.

Step Six: Eat a Healthy Breakfast

A nutritious breakfast provides much-needed energy and keeps you feeling full until lunchtime. Try to choose whole-grain cereals, oatmeal, or nutrient-dense smoothies high in protein and low in added sugars. Healthy breakfasts also have more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support your body’s daily needs.

Step Seven: Lead with Gratitude

Lead with gratitude as you begin each new day by actively expressing appreciation for what’s around you. This could be anything from appreciating the effort it took to make breakfast or acknowledging how nice it feels outside today. When you practice gratitude each morning, you’ll bring a sense of calmness into the rest of your day and cultivate an attitude of abundance in all aspects of life.

Conclusion

Building a morning routine incorporating the proper habits helps you begin your day feeling energized, productive, and in control of your life. By taking some time for yourself in the mornings, you allow yourself to re-center, reflect on your day, and nourish your soul.

OK, conflicting goals here: Waking up at the right time according to my body’s rhythm versus waking up early enough to prep for the day. That’s easily a range of 2 to 3 hours 😉
Otherwise that’s a nice list. Except, where is the coffee?

That’s true! Having to get up early for so long (getting my daughter on the bus), I can’t sleep in late. Oh well…

Not a coffee drinker here so it didn’t even cross my mind 😀😀

Excellent morning routine recommendations! I follow most of them with the exception of breakfast due to my intermittent fasting schedule. I also like to go outside for movement when weather permits so that I can ground myself. Thank you for sharing. Sending love.

Dominique, good afternoon! What a great post! And your blogsite is gorgeous. All your points are right on. I follow a similar system. My spiritual practice tends to run about 40 minutes, and then I have breakfast, shower/groom, and get to a (usual) 8 am meeting. Pretty healthy structure! Seems like you are feeling regenerated– is that right? I would love for you to feel energized and zippy. All blessings to you!
