Bowling
No matter what your winter date plans are, there is no better way to spend an afternoon than to go bowling. Bowling is inexpensive and provides hours of entertainment. There’s nothing more fun than knocking over some pins. Get on your bowling shoes and get ready to have a blast with your date!
Ice Skating
Ice skating is one of the most popular winter date activities because it’s like riding a bike- there’s no time limit and it doesn’t require too much intensity. The best time to go ice skating is in the evening when it is just starting to get dark because the lighting will illuminate the rink and create a romantic atmosphere. Skating together under the moonlight has a magical feel to it.
Learn Something Together
Taking classes together is a great winter date idea if you are looking for some intellectual stimulation. There are many different types of classes, such as cooking, painting, photography, woodworking, and pottery. This way you will both learn something new and share the work together. There are even online options available now! This is a long-lasting date idea as you can continuously share what you have learned with your significant other.
Snow Hiking
Snow hiking is a perfect opportunity to be outside in the snow, both of you wearing winter clothes and taking a walk through the forest. You are able to see all of the natural beauty that winter brings. You can see the frost on the trees, icicles on branches, and snow-capped mountains while experiencing the crispness of the air. Being able to share this with your loved one will create a memory you will be able to look back on and share with the grandkids.
Make Snow People and Snow Angels
When the cold winter months arrive, there is an abundance of snow on the ground. With it, there is plenty of opportunity for fun and games. Snow can be used to make snow angels, construct a snow fort, or build a snowman. When you are done you can opt for a snowball fight and then some hot chocolate. The perfect end to a romantic day.
Indoor Rock Climbing or Bouldering
If you want an indoor activity and you are up for a challenge, head to a rock climbing gym and see how high you can get. If you’re not as daring, opt for a bouldering course. Unlike traditional rock climbing, bouldering does not require ropes or harnesses. In fact, bouldering courses are meant for beginners and those who are less experienced with the sport.
Have a Gadget-Free Evening
A gadget-free evening is a wonderful way to get to know each other without the distractions of our phones and computers. A good time to do this would be on a cold winter evening. You can get cozy by a fireplace or by a warm stove. You get to know each other better and talk about the things you enjoy doing together. Plus the lack of distractions allows for more intimacy during the date.
Go Cross-country Skiing
Cross-country skiing is an undeniably romantic winter date idea. The thrill of the cold air against your cheeks, the crisp crunch of the snow under your feet, the feeling of exhilaration as you glide across the snow. It’s a truly transcendent experience. If you are looking for something different to do this winter, put on your skis and go out with your date and enjoy sharing these amazing moments with your date.
Make a Scrapbook
Making a scrapbook together is a fun and creative date idea for the winter months. This is the perfect opportunity to show off your creativity with your partner by picking out photos, writing captions for them, and designing the layout of the book. Not only will this give you some time to spend with your significant other, but it also gives you memories that you can look back on in the future.
Visit a Virtual Art Museum
Finding an art museum that is open all year is very difficult. Thankfully, with the invention of virtual art museums, visiting one is no longer an activity limited to the warmer months. There is no need to spend money on gas, parking, or admission. Instead, just switch on the computer and get ready to enjoy some quality time with your date.
Have an at-home Spa Day
Spa days are a relaxing way to de-stress and spend time with loved ones. They can be as inexpensive or luxurious as you want them to be. To set the mood, pick out a nice robe and some soft bath sheets. Next, find a nice-smelling candle and some relaxing music. Now all that is left is to enjoy some tea and pamper each other. Hint: Add some bath bombs or bubbles for a truly romantic experience.
Antiquing
One of the most often overlooked date options is antiquing. There are so many stores with treasures just waiting to be found. You could spend the whole day looking at different items, talking about what you find, or even bargaining for a better price.
Go Sledding
Winter is the time of year for skiing, sleigh-rides, and snowshoeing, but one of the most popular winter date ideas is sledding. From big hills to small hills, there is no shortage of places within driving distance to go sledding. The best part is that the best sledding hills are by far more affordable than skiing or snowboarding lessons.
Have a Paint Night
Paint nights can be about painting anything – animals, landscapes, or even abstract paintings – which means that there is something for everyone regardless of their skill level. The best thing about this type of date idea is that there are no right or wrong answers; it’s up to both of you to decide who goes first. All you need for this date idea is creativity! A little paint and some canvases might help too.
Make Fondue
Fondue is a dish that is best served when the weather outside is cold. Making fondue is easy and the ingredients are cheap and easy to find. The cooking process is also not too difficult, so it is a good idea for a first date if you are not too confident in your cooking skills.
In Conclusion
These are all great ideas. We used to go to this great fondue place when we lived in Atlanta — and we have made fondue at home on occasion as well as cooked, scrapbooked, or had a gadget-free evening.
However, since we live in a warm-weather part of the country, some of these opportunities aren’t easily available for us.
But you can adapt these ideas to fit where you live. Not enough snow to sled? Consider a quick dog walk, go in and have some hot chocolate (spiked on not), and chat in front of a warm fireplace. See how easy that was?
