It’s Day 3 of the July Ultimate Blog Challenge. I decided to take a break from my “nourish your soul” theme and give a quick update on my novel writing journey.

When I was a child, I wanted to be a writer. My cousins and I created an entire neighborhood with characters and relationships — we even mapped it all out so we knew who liked who and who lived where! We wrote stories about our characters but were usually unable to finish any of them. Eventually, we all moved on to other activities. I even decided to become a physician instead. Writing got pushed to the side.

But when I developed kidney failure and found myself sitting ALOT, I decided to give writing another try. I started my novel but also spent time writing on my blog as well. The writing was moving very slowly. Then, I had the transplant, my father moved in and I had to care for him, and then the pandemic…I thought it wasn’t getting done. My husband thought it wasn’t getting done LOL.

But it did!

So, I am trying to launch in the fall. I have to get some reviews and other types of exposure. I am working on that now. I plan to have a mini-blog tour, the book cover reveal, pre-sales…the whole sha-bang! Self-promotion is a lot of work! LOL 🤷🏽‍♀️

In that vein, I also created a free lead magnet for my novel — which I have been posting on my blog. It’s called “I Do CHAOS”. This story occurs approximately 4 years before my actual novel and gives the reader some insight as to how she got to the events in my novel.

Jamison should be on top of the world…She’s almost finished with her residency and is 2 months away from a fabulous job and a wedding to a rich and hot surgeon. But nothing seems right… http://authordwbrooks.com #IDOCHAOS #freenovella #bookstoread #writerscommunity

I am pretty excited — and nervous 😰 — about the process! I hope you check out my free novella! I will keep you informed of my process as it goes. I appreciate your support!
