Slow Cooker Month: Salisbury Steak
Day #6
Does your family love Salisbury steak? I was a HUGE fan as a kid. My mom used to buy the frozen containers at the grocery store and just put them in the oven for a quick and easy dinner. Now we have more information, right?
This recipe is easy. It tastes so much better. We know exactly what’s in it and it’s just as simple as the store-bought version.
Meal Prep Note: When lean ground beef goes on sale at the grocery store, stock up and make a couple of batches of the patties ahead of time. Fry them up as directed and freeze. Just thaw and use as directed when you’re ready for another batch of slow-cooker Salisbury steak.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak
Ingredients
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cans cream of chicken soup
- 1 packet dry au jus mix
- 3/4 cup water
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef, onion soup mix, bread crumbs and milk in a large bowl. Mix them together with your hands and form 8 patties.
- Heat the oil in a skillet. Roll the patties in the flour and brown them in the hot skillet. Brown both sides, then move them to the slow cooker. You can stack them as needed to get all 8 in there.
- Mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl and pour over the meat. Cook on low for 5 hours.
