For those of you who have been living in a messy kitchen, it’s time to start decluttering. The holidays are coming, and if you are going to be cooking big meals and hosting functions during this season, it’s a great time to declutter. I am going to teach you how to declutter your kitchen for better organization. This will not only make cooking easier but also more enjoyable.
Removing clutter from your home is the first step towards living a healthier lifestyle because when you are surrounded by clutter, it can become overwhelming and cause anxiety. Using these tips, you will not only declutter your kitchen, but you will also be able to create an enjoyable cooking space with minimal stress involved.
Throwing away old clutter can be a lot of fun. You get rid of all the junk that is taking up space in your home and it feels good knowing that you won’t have any clutter weighing down on you from now on. Decluttering your kitchen is the first step to better organization. If you follow these tips, then your kitchen will be spotless in no time.
Benefits of living a clutter-free lifestyle
Decluttering can help you save money. When we declutter our kitchens, we make room for the items that matter most to us and only keep what is necessary. This means no more buying unnecessary things because now there is space for those special keepsakes or collectibles from your travels around the world.
Decluttering your kitchen can help with stress relief also. Removing clutter from our lives gives us a sense of calmness and peace. When your kitchen is clean you will have a sense of peace in the area where you cook and eat. If this has been something that has always stressed you out, then decluttering can help with stress relief because it creates an organized space for cooking easier, which reduces anxiety over how to make dinner when there are piles of dishes everywhere!
Countertops
Removing clutter from your countertops makes your kitchen feel cleaner instantly. I like to start with the counters so I can use that momentum to keep going. Because by the time I get to the junk drawer, I’m toast!
If you don’t have enough space for everything you want to have on the counter, build vertical space with racks and shelves.
Kitchen sink
Organize the area around your kitchen sink by having a designated space for all your dishwashing supplies. This means everything from hand soap to sponges should be in one place, so you don’t have to search around the entire kitchen every time you want something new.
If there isn’t enough room near the sink or underneath it, then it’s time to get creative. You can build extra cabinetry that matches your kitchen to create more storage space.
Cabinet Organizers
Utilize all of the space in your cabinets, to the best of your ability. Organizing cabinets is easier said than done, but if you dedicate time to it and give your cabinets a good cleaning before you start organizing them then they will be looking like new in no time.
Drawer organizers aren’t just for drawers; you can use them in your cabinets as well. Especially if you have a large cabinet at eye level or above, you may want to use cabinet organizers so you can pull them down and go through them when you need something. This is much easier than having to grab a step stool.
I like to keep all of the same types of items together such as dishes with dishes or spices with spices. This makes cooking more efficient because when you need an item that you don’t have, it is easier to find. It makes putting dishes away much faster, too.
Drawers
If you’re anything like me, then your junk drawer is probably a nightmare. But it doesn’t have to be that way anymore. Cleaning out the drawers makes them easier to use, which will stop you from shoving random things inside of them just so they don’t get closed. The organized drawer becomes a space where the things you use most often are closer to hand, and everything else can be thrown away or donated.
Extra Moveable Storage
Decluttering your kitchen is going to make cooking easier because it will give you enough room for all of your appliances and utensils without having any clutter in front of them. If you don’t have enough room in your kitchen for everything, look into getting some storage carts to put in front of the cabinets. These are great if you only use certain appliances when cooking but need them out all the time because they will create more space on your countertops and shelves.
An Organized Cooking Space
Organization makes cooking and cleaning up easier as well. You won’t be searching through piles of dishes looking for the right one. You will always know where things are because everything has its place. Don’t you hate getting ready to start dinner and you have to clean the pots and pans right before you use them? Or do you have to go hunting in the cabinets to find that one pan you need for your sauce for spaghetti? When you organize your kitchen you will eliminate these problems. Pots and pans will be easily accessible and you will be motivated to keep your kitchen clean also. This will make cooking more fun and enjoyable.
The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in any home. It’s a place where we enjoy cooking and eating, and bonding with children and family members. We love teaching our kids how to cook and starting out with an organized kitchen has made that a more enjoyable experience.
Decluttering your kitchen will give you more space to do these everyday tasks with less clutter and frustration. Don’t wait – start today! Organizing cabinets can be difficult but it’s worth it for how much time decluttering saves later on. Use some of these tips to get started on decluttering your own kitchen efficiently so you have more room for what matters most: family meals together at the table, laughter from happy memories past, hugs from those who love us dearly, and stories waiting to be told.

Dominique, what an awesome post! I am reorganizing my entire home and culling/shredding/donating so much! So I read every word of your post closely. Thank you for all your suggestions. I may need to buy some of those clear containers, as a number of things can still leave the kitchen. Blessings to you–
