Working from home? How do you spend your mornings?

All successful people have one thing in common – they are sticklers for routine. So, what does a healthy and effective morning routine look like? Here, you’ll discover how to transform your mornings to achieve a better work/life balance.

Prepare the night before

One of the best tips you can follow to transform your mornings is to prepare the night before.

Each evening you should organize your outfit for the next day. You could even prepare your lunch the night before, along with the kid’s lunches. When you have kids, mornings are the most hectic part of the day. However, if you prepare everything both they and you will need the night before, it will eliminate a lot of the stress associated with your morning routine.

So, prepare everything you can the night before and this will help to get you off to the best start to the day.

Wake up early

Did you know that one of the most common habits all successful people have, is to wake up early? All of the business greats tend to start between 5 am and 6 am. Some even get up as early as 4 am.

Now, when you have kids, the thought of getting up super early isn’t exactly appealing. However, it can give you plenty of time to wake up and get yourself ready before the rest of the family get up. If you struggle to get up earlier, try going to bed earlier too. It may take a little while to get used to, but it will soon become a habit if you persist and push through those first few days.

Enjoy a little “you” time

If you want your mornings to get off to the most relaxing start, you’ll want to set aside time for yourself. This also helps manage work/life balance.

As soon as you wake, do something relaxing. This could be reading a book, listening to relaxing music or listening to a podcast. You could also use this time to exercise. Many people struggle to fit exercise into their routine. So, by fitting it into your morning routine, it will help you to meet your fitness goals without needing to find extra time in the day.

Compile your to-do list

Some people prefer to make their to-do list in the evenings. However, this can interrupt your sleep if you’re the type of person to worry about the things you need to do. If this sounds like you, compiling your to-do list in the morning is a better idea.

Write down all of the tasks you need to get done and mark them in order of importance. Then, consider splitting them down into timely chunks, ensuring you know what you’re working on and how long you have to complete each task.

Enjoy a nutritious breakfast

All great morning routines should include a nutritious breakfast. Again, if you struggle to find time in the mornings to even have breakfast, you can prepare things the night before.

A protein-packed breakfast such as eggs will give you plenty of energy to face the day ahead. It’s arguably the most important meal of the day so if you want to boost productivity, ensuring you eat a healthy breakfast is recommended.

The above are some of the main things you should consider when creating a morning routine. How you start your morning will ultimately impact how it goes. It may take a while to find the right work/life balance, but once you have a morning routine perfected, it will make a huge difference to your day.
