With all the turmoil going on in the world these days, I thought it would be a good idea to rerun my series of posts about peace.
It’s holiday time, and peace is a mantra for many as the year draws to a close. Christmas cards from friends and family send wishes of peace. Church billboards, TV commercials, and sappy Hallmark movies remind us to focus on sharing peaceful gestures for the holidays. “Sleep in heavenly peace,” bids that favorite traditional Christmas hymn.
Peace is on the minds of many at this joyous and celebratory time of year. But do you ever stop to consider what that really means, and how you can do your part to share peace… not just at Christmas time but for the whole year through?

When we think about inviting more peace into our hearts and homes this holiday season, we might also ask ourselves the hard questions:
- What have I done to cultivate peace in my immediate surroundings – with my family, friends, coworkers, and the people I encounter every day?
- What form of peace can I send out into the world in my own, ordinary but nevertheless meaningful way?
- What does peace mean to me, and how can I share a feeling of peace with others?
- What things feel un-peaceful to me, and why? What can I do to change that?
There will be multiple posts during this holiday season focused on peace– what it means and how to achieve it.
It’s a perfect topic for the season.

Peace to me sometimes means a lack of strife.
But there can be all kinds of things going on, and we still experience peace. So, it has to be something that God blesses us with as we choose to surrender to Him. It’s an inner calmness, but we can’t generate it on our own.
That good news is that He has promised it to us. I’m thankful for that!
God bless!

A component of peace definitely comes from inside — so you can maintain your calm even when things are going crazy around you.

It’s a great topic for the holiday season! I will look forward to your posts about it. I define peace for myself as inner wellbeing and contentment. And I definitely would wish that the world could experience it, too. “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me,” I guess.

Thank you. I would love for there to be more peace on Earth but I agree — it definitely starts with me. I guess if everyone took that view, we would be a lot closer, right?

One of the key considerations – Shalom Bayit- peace in the home, calmness of the abode- is a critical consideration. Especially during the pandemic when we need a place of safety, calm, and love to withstand the stress of the world.

I like this — it is important to have peace in the house. It’s a place of refuse from all the noise outside.
