I am having a tough time today. I had to place my father into hospice care yesterday. Still rather raw — I will have a post about it at a later date. So. today is National Shrimp Day. National Garlic Month: Roasted Garlic Hummus
One more recipe for National Garlic Month. Roasted Garlic Hummus… When I was a child, I did not care much about garlic. My family didn’t use it all that much in their cooking so I really wasn’t exposed to the flavor that much. I didn’t eat much in college either. But by the time I got to medical school, I was in love. What are you doing to celebrate? LOL Ironically, we have a pecan tree in our front yard. How long did it take me to realize that? I am embarrassed to say years. The squirrels made short work of them each year and I only saw a few nuts on the ground each year. A tree trimmer informed me about what we had in the front yard — I felt silly! I have been buying pecans when…

April is National Pecan Month. I will be sharing recipes all month using pecans, and today is the first. Pecans are my favorite nuts but I am not very fond of other nuts. That came as a surprise to my parents. As a child, my father would go to the old Sears popcorn and candy counters (am I showing my age?) and would buy salted nuts —…
