    November Notes

    October 31, 2020 / 4 Comments

I can’t believe it is really almost November. The holiday season is beginning! For the past two years, I have published a series about gratitude during the month of November. I am not going to re-publish it this year. However, I am going to include links to the posts in the series in my postings this month. I think you will enjoy the posts and hopefully, they will get you in the right frame fo mind for the season. While the holidays will look very different this year, we can still celebrate the good things. Enjoy your Halloween festivities!

    National Oatmeal Day: Oatmeal Everywhere

    October 29, 2020 / 1 Comment

It’s National Oatmeal Day! So to celebrate, I have gathered 3 recipes — 2 oatmeal bowls and 1 cookie. Berries and Cream Oatmeal Are you looking for a lighter oatmeal recipe? Sometimes oatmeal recipes can tend to lean heavy on the buttery goodness side, while they lack in the lighter, healthier side of food. A lighter oatmeal with a few servings of sweet fruit is likely to help you to feel a lot more energized after eating the carbs in the oatmeal, and your blood sugar won’t spike as heavily causing you to feel tired suddenly in the middle of the day. If you want something healthy and easy to…

    Halloween 2020 Round-Up

    October 27, 2020 / No Comments

Halloween is less that a week away. What are you doing this year? My last Halloween post described what we are doing around here — although, I just found out there is a neighborhood Trunk-or-Treat this year. That event is new for us — however, we won’t be going . But it’s cool that they are trying to do something for the kids! Here is one more Halloween night recipe for the family. Halloween Bat Wings Dinner This Halloween, while preparing dinner, make it creepy by taking a cue from the witches in William Shakespeare’s MacBeth by repeating, “Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.” Continue by…

    Life Reset: Have a Plan

    October 24, 2020 / No Comments

Make sure when you start looking into doing a life reset, you have a solid plan. This includes understanding why you are doing it, what parts of your life you want to take inventory of, and what changes you intend to make. Understand Why You Are Doing a Life Reset You can’t really work on your life reset plan until you know your main reason for doing it. Everyone has a different motivation for wanting to make changes in their life, which is why it is important that you understand your own reasons. What made you originally come to this decision? Write down anything you can remember from when you…

Self-Care Activities For a Bad Day

    October 23, 2020 / No Comments

When you have a bad day, you might find that you want to grab a drink or eat something unhealthy. But these are not healthy habits to have. A better option is to work on your self-care activities, which can make you feel better and will be good for you at the same time. Watch Something Funny Don’t underestimate the power of laughing! If you are having a terrible day, find a way to watch TV or a movie that makes you laugh. Avoid action, drama, and other genres that might make you feel miserable by the end. Binge-watch your favorite comedy on Netflix or turn on the TV to…

    Life Reset: Meditation and Mindfulness

    October 21, 2020 / No Comments

A common theme surrounding improving your life and especially your mental and emotional health is doing meditation or practicing mindfulness. I am a big fan of doing both. Each of these practices benefits you in similar ways but uses slightly different techniques. In the end, they blend beautifully into one life-changing practice. Meditation and Mindfulness These are similar practices, but done in slightly different ways. With meditation, you are most likely focusing on your breathing, closing your eyes, and trying to clear your mind. When you are practicing mindfulness, it is not done with your eyes closed, but instead when participating in another activity. When to do meditation – If…

Self-care has been a hot topic for many years now. More people are learning how to put themselves first and take care of their own health and wellbeing. This is a great idea for everyone, but self-care is not always about bubble baths and massages. There are many forms of self-care, including daily changes to your routine, to helping improve a specific burden in your life. October 18, 2020 / No Comments

As you continue with your journey to reset your life and health, have you considered your exercise routine? Resetting is simply the process of analyzing and making changes as needed. It feels like a way of starting over and making it work better for you. Here are some things to consider when it comes to resetting your exercise routine. Exercise Improves Your Health The first reason it is a good idea to reset or at least revisit your exercise routine is because of how beneficial exercise is for your health. I have reset my exercise routine during this time of uncertainty. While many people only think of it as a…

    Maintain Your Peace with Hygge

    October 16, 2020 / No Comments

Hygge is a wonderful practice that can be done any time of the year, though people often focus on it in the fall and winter months when the weather is cooler, it is darker outside, and the need for comfort and coziness becomes a priority. Hygge is a danish practice of winding down, getting cozy and comfortable, and indulging in relaxation. There are many ways to practice hygge, and all of them can bring you peace during your time of reset. Bring Nature in Your Home An easy way to start practicing hygge is to bring nature back into your home. Instead of using fake plastic plants, consider getting some…
