On Day 11 of the 30 Thankful Days Challenge, we’ll focus on our gratitude for nature.
Nature, what a beautiful, amazing, and miraculous thing! Life as it exists on our planet. The perfect conditions for plants to grow, for insects and reptiles and mammals to thrive in their own, perfectly balanced, miniature worlds within our world.
Nature inspires humans to brave the elements, and risk our safety by immersing ourselves in the midst of nature – climbing to the top of that jagged mountain or facing the roaring river rapids with nothing but a flimsy raft and lifejacket to protect us.
In nature, we feel most alive and connected to the world around us!
Inspirations from Nature
Nature inspires us to create amazing works of art and make our homes in unexpected and sometimes risky places, just so that we can be surrounded by its miracles.
When was the last time you stepped into the great outdoors to soak up some healing sunshine, plant your bare feet upon the soft grass, and be kissed by gentle breezes?
Today, take time to appreciate nature.
Immerse yourself in the peacefulness of a clear sky – a never-ending expanse of possibilities, a symbol of happiness and hope that goes on forever.
If it’s rainy and dismal, grab your rain gear and step outside anyway. Observe the world as it takes a long and quenching drink. What would we do without the precious rain to bring life to our planet?
Don’t let cold and snow keep you cooped up indoors. You’ll soon have a change in heart, and a lift of your spirit, once you crunch your footsteps into the frost-covered ground.
Has nature been destructive in your corner of the planet lately?
This is a stern reminder from Mother Earth.
When humans find themselves at the mercy of nature, perhaps it’s a sign that we should be more cautious about where we put our roots down.
Yes, we risk our safety when we plan our neighborhoods and build cities in areas of our planet that are less habitable. Sure, we can do this – but we must remain aware, going in, that if we populate an unfavorable spot, it may necessitate the need for us to vacate, and quickly.
Anything that humans do which upsets the delicate balance of nature ultimately affects life on our planet.
Day 11 JOURNAL EXERCISE: Celebrate and give thanks for nature.
Even if you think you’re not an “outdoorsy” kind of person, being out in the fresh air and sunshine benefits everyone.
In fact, it’s not natural to deprive ourselves of natural light and fresh air that’s been oxygenated by plants.
Did you know that chickens in coops that don’t get enough natural sunlight, or light from full-spectrum bulbs stop laying eggs?
We require the sun’s power in order to maintain our fertility and reproduce. That’s pretty amazing!
In today’s journal exercise, think of at least three enjoyable moments you’ve had in nature. They don’t have to be recent.
Also, consider the miracle of the Earth’s formations in the natural world.
We have so much natural beauty to appreciate on our planet.
From a simple mountain lake to an awe-inspiring natural wonder like the Grand Canyon, nature’s displays take our breath away.
What is your favorite natural landmark, and what do you love about it?
