    I am lucky I live on Lake Conroe and have a lovely view that allows me to see geese, turtles, river otters, and birds of all kinds, and the water is different every day. Since moving here, nature has come to be one of my joys. I stand at my kitchen windows and watch the fish move in the water, and my soul sighs at the delicate joy of the ripple. I watch my neighbor pull a big fish out and want to jump and cheer. I find peace in stepping out on my deck and listening to the wind in my trees, and I laugh at my dogs chasing the squirrels off the deck. Nature is now a massive part of my life, and I am grateful for the happiness and peace it brings me. It refreshes my soul every day. Cindy Rae

      I was curious to where you lived in the area when you mentioned Hurricane Harvey. The entire region bonded over that distinctive Hurricane experience…

      We have a variety of wildlife roaming in our neighborhood (rabbits, a variety of birds in our reservoirs, feral hogs, turtles, gators, raccoons, and more). I enjoy walking and looking at the trees and the sky and breathing in the air. It’s one of my favorite things.

    When it comes to beeing outdoorsy, I am definitely a fair weather nature lover. I’ll go on a walk or a mini hike, and I’ll enjoy the view and take pictures. Probably the boldest thing I did was a guided safari in South Africa, where we came super close to lions, buffalo and other animals.

    But then I need to go back to “civilization”, where there are no insects, and where it’s not too hot and humid. Especially where a comfy bed and a warm shower are.

    Someone once wanted to analyze me in terms of why I don’t like camping. They suggested I go into the forest and hug some trees. As a training so to speak. Ahem, nope.

    Perfect ideas to connect our souls to nature. I do everything on your list except for biking but we do quite a bit of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. I also have an abundance of birds and wild life in our back yard which I visit every morning while walking through the flowers and talking to my mom in heaven. I love nature, it’s so peaceful and soothing to the soul.

    I have experienced moments of deep connection, too, through nature. Esoecially when water is involved, like a lake or on the beach. Maybe someday i will get to have a home on the water. I am hoping so!
