Remember the movie “Groundhog Day”? Each and every day is the same. You wake up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and then go back to bed. Sounds pretty unpleasant, right? You wouldn’t be very happy. We are constantly surrounded by negativity in society. People are quick to judge or criticize anything that is not mainstream. But the only way to break out of this cycle is to take responsibility for your own thoughts and actions. Positive affirmations can change your life by giving you a positive outlook on situations – and life in general.
A few examples of positive affirmations are: “I am creative”, “I have love in my life”, “today is perfect just the way it is”, “I deserve abundance in my life”.
What’s a Positive Affirmation?

Affirmations are positive statements that can help you build confidence and overcome self-sabotaging thoughts. They can even serve as a mood lifter on bad days. For instance, an affirmation like “I relax my shoulders” can make your body feel more relaxed.
Changing Mindsets
Affirmations are not only for the tough times though, but they also give you a new way to look at your life and change your mindset. Simply put, positive affirmations are statements you make to yourself throughout the day that will give you a boost of confidence and remind you how amazing you really are.
Reaching Goals
Positive affirmations can also help you work through negative thoughts and reach your goals. They’re simple to say, and they’ll change the way you think about yourself – as well as how others see you!
Self-Improvement
They are a great tool for self-improvement because of their ability to break down our limiting beliefs. By repeating these positive statements often, we gain confidence in ourselves which allows us a greater chance at success.
Self-affirmation is an empowering tool for many people who have faced difficult circumstances in their lives. It’s something to be used every single day, like any other habit such as brushing your teeth.
Self-Care
Affirmations are a form of self-care. We all know it’s important to make time for self-care every day, but do we take the time to do it?
When you are feeling frazzled, write down what is going on in your mind and how it makes you feel using your affirmation journal as a guide. Affirmations can help create clarity from the chaos of life that gets us all sometimes!
How To Put Daily Positive Affirmations to Use

There are many ways to incorporate affirmations into your daily life.
Start an affirmation journal.
Many people keep a diary, and this is not that different. Make your affirmation journal powerful by writing down an affirmation each day that you are working on to focus on one thing at a time.
Visualize!
Visualize that the affirmation has already come true for you. See yourself acting and thinking in the manner described in the affirmation, giving your subconscious mind an indication of what is to happen next.
Acting as though it is true provides you with a mental power to make what’s been visualized come to fruition.
Say your positive affirmations out loud.
Stand in front of a mirror and repeat the affirmation out loud every day. The more you speak positively to yourself out loud, the easier it is to believe what you are saying. It’s important to speak with conviction: say it as if it is true already, even if it’s not.
It may feel odd at first. However, if you make it into a habit, you will find it gets easier. You can do it while getting ready in the morning, or while you’re doing your nighttime routine – or both!
Try stepping-stone affirmations.
Instead of starting with an affirmation that may seem out of your reach, think of the steps it will take to get to that end result. For example, if your end goal is to beat your negative outlook in life and be happy every single day, it may feel impossible to do that at this moment.
However, you can work on yourself in smaller steps and use an affirmation like I choose to see the positive in the world. Saying that doesn’t magically take your negative thoughts away, but it helps you take a step in the right direction towards achieving happiness.
Create your own.
You can start off using other people’s affirmations, but make sure that they feel personal to you. Someone else’s values may not be the same as yours, and, you may not get the same benefit from their affirmations.
Try changing some of those affirmations and including words that are more personal to you. What do you value? Include those values in your affirmation statements.
Repeat affirmations to yourself often.
Even when you can’t be in front of a mirror or speaking affirmations out loud, you can think of them. Thinking affirmations is not a replacement for saying them to yourself out loud as we talked about earlier, but it can be a reinforcer to use throughout the day.
When a stressful situation arises, I say “I can handle this” and keep repeating it as you work on your breathing. This immediately gives me perspective on the situation and reminds me that whatever it is, it’s most likely just a blip on the radar and I can breathe through it.
There’s no limit to the number of times that you can say affirmations each day. You may even want to write or type some of them up and place them around your home to embed the affirmations even deeper into your subconscious.
Incorporate your goals into your affirmations.
We’re always working towards goals either in our personal or professional lives or both. Incorporating those goals into your daily affirmations can actually make those goals more achievable!
“I am healthy and strong” is an affirmation you can use while trying to make better food choices. Repeating this affirmation as you’re deciding what to eat for breakfast can actually help you make better, healthier choices.
“I am a runner” is an affirmation that may feel like a complete lie if you haven’t even jogged around the block yet, but guess what? Telling yourself you are a runner can even help you run faster.
When you believe it, you can achieve it.
It All Starts with One Step.

Now it’s time to take the first step to change your life with affirmations. In order to see real results, you’ll need to say them out loud and believe in what you are saying. There is no magic or mystery behind affirmations; they are just words that have a powerful effect on your subconscious mind if repeated enough times with faith.
Positive affirmations have been around for centuries but they still remain one of the most effective ways that we can use to improve our lives. Now it’s time to take the first step towards changing your life by following these simple steps:
- Say a positive affirmation out loud to yourself at least three times every day,
- Keep repeating this step daily until you truly believe the words you’re saying,
- Read positive books/articles,
- And have a little faith – in yourself!
Need Some Help with Finding Affirmations?
It may seem daunting to start. You might think you are going to say the wrong thing or pick the wrong one. That’s not likely as long as the affirmation is positive and relatable but here are some books and other resources that you can use to either find affirmations or inspiration.
