Sweet & Savory Spiced Pecans
April is National Pecan Month. However, on top of that, April 14th in National Pecan Day. Pecans everywhere! I have roasted my two pounds of pecans to put in the freezer for later snacking. What are you doing to celebrate? LOL Ironically, we have a pecan tree in our front yard. How long did it take me to realize that? I am embarrassed to say years. The squirrels made short work of them each year and I only saw a few nuts on the ground each year. A tree trimmer informed me about what we had in the front yard — I felt silly! I have been buying pecans when…

Day unknown of the quarantine. How are you hanging in there? Are you baking and cooking more? Me too! Here is another opportunity for us to bake some more! When I was a child, my paternal grandmother was constantly baking lovely desserts and dinners (without any recipes of course!). April is National Pecan Month. I will be sharing recipes all month using pecans, and today is the first. Pecans are my favorite nuts but I am not very fond of other nuts. That came as a surprise to my parents. As a child, my father would go to the old Sears popcorn and candy counters (am I showing my age?) and would buy salted nuts —…

This Easter, many families will be enjoying Easter services online this year. This doesn’t mean that traditions such as a family Easter brunch are completely off the table. Chicken Cordon Bleu with Creamy Butter Sauce
It’s National Chicken Cordon Bleu Day! Did you know that most people (me included) thought that this dish was French? It actually originated in Switzerland. The Swiss need to reclaim their recipe — the French are getting all the credit! As a child, my mother served frozen versions of this dish. However, I don’t believe anyone ever served me a homemade version until I was an adult. I really liked the frozen version. However, I love this one. Have fun!
